And I have missed being on the site. I just wanted to post a Thank You to @Mama Bear who has been so kind and patient with me and @Pearlized who has been tireless in trying to get me back onto the forum. YOU GUYS RAWK!!! Also, a Big Hug goes out to all who thought of me and my health struggles while I was away!!! *(Thanks again to @Pearlized for passing messages onward).

I am having to change my diet and lifestyle as part of those health challenges, but I am making the necessary adjustments and overall, I am doing really well.

I have started immunotherapy. Every 28 days, for the next year, I get an infusion of medicine to stop the return of the main health issue. I am part of Lexington, Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center, and I have some of the best doctors and surgeons watching out for me.

For the record, I had a tumor just above the opening to my stomach at the lower third of my esophagus. So the lower esophagus and the upper stomach were removed, the stomach was rolled into a tube, (rather than being a pouch), and then reattached to the remaining esophagus. This pulled my stomach up towards my chest and reduced the size of my stomach so that I am re-learning to eat..small bites, …of certain foods, and slowly. But I am well on my way to being 100% again.

To know you guys care is a blessing and I want to thank you all again for taking an active part in my healing!

    Bright Blessings,
    M Raven

Its good to have back @Mark Ravenheart and great to hear you have got this in check and on the way back up now.

All i have to deal with is switching my coffee from Full Caffeine to Zero Caffeine. Hoping that’s all that is needed to slow my heart rate down. Its regular beating, just faster than they like it to be.

Just think about the journey you can take, discovering new foods that will be better for you. Or cooking those you love in a way you can eat easier.

Tachycardia is not something ya want to become an everyday word. I wish you the best with the switch.

I had watermelon chunks for breakfast this morning, it was a nice change of pace. I usually eat a late lunch but I am considering crab cakes and hush puppies. Tho I can likely only eat a few bites at a time, it will depend a lot on how well this new medication works.

I love that I am choosing to eat healthier foods and I have slimmed down considerably. Four months on a liquid diet will do that to a person. 😋 I enjoy a good challenge and this new food venture is exciting to me.

I’ve read that one science-based study, found that taking oral lavender oil capsules was just as effective in alleviating the signs of anxiety as the anti-anxiety drug lorazepam. (Ativan).

I have PTSD (read anxiety and depression) and so, I am gonna try this recipe for Lavender Lemonade that is especially good for anxiety…

5 cups of pure water, 6 fresh lemons, one drop of Lavender essential oil, add honey to sweeten. I can barely wait to try it. Oh, and it’s good for headache relief as well. 😁

Just a word of caution @Mark Ravenheart Please check that the Lavender Essential oil IS a Food Safe one. Some do not actually state, so you maybe told where you purchase it from that it is. You cannot be 100% sure it is not contaminated though.

While Lavender is generally a safe one, there are still some dubious suppliers out there.

Just be aware with this as you know i use them a lot for all sorts.

Thanks @Pearlized I appreciate the heads up!!!

I use a company that I have found to be reputable called, Bulk Apothecary. Still, I will double-check and make sure that it is food safe.

I am aware that they carry fragrance oils that are not the same as essential oils and are NOT food safe.

Some oils are skin safe tho not food safe etc.

But I will definitely check to make sure I ordered the Pure Therapeutic-grade Essential Oil, it is also certified organic I do believe.

I am still very glad that you brought this subject up…

Although I did order pure therapeutic-grade essential oil there are only about 7 different types that fall under that heading mostly depending on the country of origin and whether or not they are standardized etc.

There is so much I need to learn about this. I have an email out to the customer support base of the company I purchase from and if I have ordered the wrong type they will allow me to change my order and just pay whatever price difference there may be.

Thanks again for having my back!!!

A few handy tips to know about buying Essential oils.

They are in a Amber / Brown bottle.

They have the Country of Origin on the Label

They Have the Latin Name along with the English name on the label.

The top is sealed with a safety screw top on it, where you have to break the seal on opening.

Anything you need to know, just ask I have books Websites and goodness knows what about Essential oils

Oh and a Warning too Keep ALL Essential oils away from ALL animals. DO NOT burn them when animals are living in the household. EVEN the ones that are SUPPOSEDLY safe There is NO 100% guarantee that your furies would not be effected. You would not know they had until the visit to the Vet and find out that over the last few months they have been slowly effected to the point, there is NOTHING that can be done to save them

That’s a lot of useful information, thank you so much!!!

I did not know this about furbabies… I just bought a good size aromatherapy diffuser that can double as a humidifier. I only use essential oils in it but still, I probably should not use it in the presence of Ki Ki. I would not forgive myself if she became ill while in my care.

There are many many safety issues concerning the use of Essential oils. Many that you would not even think of, if you have not read up on them.

Believe it or not some can and will melt plastics in their undiluted state. Lavender is one, Lemon is another. There are many more and a few that i will go as far to say CAN melt SPACE AGE plastic. So PLEASE DO NOT store them in Plastic bottles, even the ones marked with a #1 will eventually be broken down by the essential oil.

If in doubt about any of them, look them up, do your research, cross reference and ASK SOMEONE WHO KNOWS. Even now after using them for almost 20 years, i do my research, i cross reference, i ask questions. and i triple check everything. I write it down in a book just for that. Some older books have oils in you cannot get today, so you have to find a substitute, but again research IF the oil suggested by one place is not discarded to be used in another.

Many many will blend together well, some just do not like ech other at all.

I could go on for days about all of this, but you would be amazed at just have many of them are actually DANGEROUS if used incorrectly, for the wrong reason, the wrong carrier, the wrong dilution, even on the wrong person.

Always ALWAYS tell your Dr if you are using essential oils in anyway along side prescribed medication. DO NOT stop taking prescribed medication WITHOUT consulting your Dr first IF you decide you want to go down the Holistic route. I do NOT advice ANYONE to use Essential oils WITHOUT informing and consulting with your Dr. I do it all the time, they know i use them and i always tell them what i am using and why. Never had a problem in all this time by doing this.

So yes use them by all means, but be prepared top do a lot of researching as you go along. Don’t take one piece of evidence as gospel, cross check maybe 3 or 4 times before you are certain you have the correct oils, the correct carrier and the correct dilution.

You were right, the Lavender oil that I ordered is not food-grade and the company is not a food-grade facility. So, I just wasted my money and I have nowhere to get food-grade lavender oil. :(

OK i have done some more research, yep even i have to go back and re check at times. So the following is what is stated for the UK then the US, 2 different statements.

UK first but NOT ALL essential oils should be used for cooking, or consuming, even if stated it can be. This is where research and cross referencing comes in.

Please note: Some labels on the essential oils state ” For External Use Only”. This is a standard UK aromatherapy legal requirement. It can be ignored if oils are used for cooking as they are food grade certified. Caution – Not for use with children under 3, or if using homeopathic medicines.

    US statement.

Note that some manufacturers market their products as food-grade essential oils. However, this is purely a marketing term and isn’t regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). So don’t take it to mean an essential oil is safe to ingest, notes the OPSS.

You see the difference and why you yourself are not finding food grade essential oils. There are many reasons why, you just have to do your research LOL That word RESEARCH will keep cropping up A LOT.

So here is another piece of info that will mage you think again about Food Grade oils. So to be honest, go for the Grade A oils. I will list the ones that came up as safe further down. When i mentioned Food Safe I should have said LISTED AS EDIBLE.

What is the difference between food grade oils and essential oils?

Grade A oils are pure and therapeutic. These are the most expensive oils because they are made from organically grown plants and distilled numerous times. Grade B oils are “food grade,” meaning they may contain synthetics, pesticides, fertilizers, or carrier oils.

These are classed as Edible, but MUST be diluted down and NEVER EVER taken in the concentration they are in the original bottles. Some MUST be diluted more than others.

Anise (Pimpinella anisum)

Bergamot (Citrus aurantium var. or Citrus bergamia.)

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus sideroxylon and Eucalyptus torquata)

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)

Lavender (Lavandula officinalis)

Lemon (Citrus limonum)

Oregano (Origanum vulgare)

Peppermint (Mentha piperita)

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Spearmint (Mentha spicata, synonym Mentha viridis)

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens)
This is just one website i pulled up for an example of what you could use the above for.

Wow, you would think it would be an easier process, but obviously, I am wrong!!! Thank you again for the information, it is most helpful, …If not a bit confusing. :p I appreciate you for taking the time to post here.

I have most of it on file, just somethings i have to cross check that its not changed from years ago. Some info has, some has not.

So basically go for the good stuff and just research as well as being aware of what is edible and what is not.

Back to good foods. I decided that I need to add fresh fruits and cooked vegetables to my diet/lifestyle and so I ordered a large fruit tray with Apples, Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Honeydew melon, grapes, etc., and set about to have some for breakfast.

I like starting my day this way and it is a lot easier on my tummy as well. I also like cooked “baby” carrots with brown sugar and cinnamon. I started this diet out of necessity but am continuing it from a love for good food and of course, my health. I forgot to add that I have bananas, fresh lemons, and lots of vegetables.

Try the baby carrots cooked with a whole star anise in the cooking water. Then just add some butter after draining them.
