Each class teaches the movement and meaning of The Five Animal Frolics, known as “Wu Xin Qi,” is a storied tapestry woven through the annals of Chinese history. Its roots trace back to the Yao Dynasty in 2300 BC, to a shamanic practice, where the legendary Qigong master Peng Zu, a beacon of longevity and vitality, laid the foundation for this exquisite practice.
Centuries later, around 200 AD, Chinese medicine master Hua Tuo a pioneer who also practiced herbology and surgery, infused this practice with organizational brilliance, crafting a specialized form inspired by the movements of five specific animals: Tiger, Bear, Deer, Monkey, and Crane.
1. Monday, February 12, 2024 – 7-8 p.m. EST Live Session One (60 Minutes) will transmit the essence of each animal movement while and provide a follow-me practice session through the complete form of all five animals. There are two movements per animal, so there are ten movements in all.
2. Monday, February 19, 2024 – 7-8 p.m. EST Live Session Two (60 Minutes) will introduce a movement of the mystical dragon that we will use to transmit the skill of energy flow. We’ll start with a gentle energy flow called Flowing Breeze, Swaying Willow.
3. Monday, February 26, 2024 – 7-8 p.m. EST Live Session Three (60 Minutes) requires more momentum, more relaxing, and more letting go to allow a more vigorous energy flow to arise. Some traditions call this Five Animal Play and believe that this is the original, or at least an early Shamanic form of Five Animal Play from times before the creation of the qigong form.
The vigorous energy flow can create categories of movement: You may roar like a Tiger, prance like a Deer, lumber around like bear, or even roll around on the ground like a monkey. This is a stress and trauma release that can release emotional energy blockages.
